1st Model Griswold Confederate Revolver
$0.00
1st Model Griswold Revolver serial " 794 " this piece has nice patina, a good angle of the gripstraps, makes it point to target more naturaly. The low serial number dates it to have been made between March and April of 1863 , this revolver was well used and tuned, as the barrel was set back to tighten the action, some of the internal parts were replaced or repaired, probably at time of use, judging by the method of repair, there are the lovely and expected twist lines of the cylinder and barrel, some grain visible on the loading lever, caused by the iron used in the manufacture of these revolvers. The grips are smoothly worn and shrunk, but not beaten up. . All the numbers match on the frame, barrel, loading lever, cylinder, trigger guard, and backstrap. The grips were numbered in the cutout for backstrap in red pencil, apears to be " 94 ". The hammer has " 9 " or " 6 ", There are several parts marked with " 11 " the trigger guard, backstrap, and frame have two cuts or slashes, please see pictures. Overall this is a good example of Griswold's manufacture, + how well it held up. I'm sure this was the trusted side arm of a Brave Confederate Soldier. The Griswold pistol factory was manned by 24 workers , of which 22 were black, and 2 white. They were fairly well skilled to produce the amount + Quality of the revolvers they did, with the limited supply and type of materials they could get.
