Here is a Confederate Thomas & Griswold Cavalry Officer Sabre, the decoration was filed off on the forward part of the guard, the 35"  blade has an unstopped fuller. There were a few shoddy swords and sabres made from New Orleans parts. This may have been parts whisked away from New Orleans when it fell into Union Occupation, The  blade is a little loose, still is wearing the original throat washer.
