.36 Cal Double Barrel Percussion Rifle
$0.00
Nice old double Barreled Rifle .36 cal very nice engraveing, notice the screws that hold the patch box have never been turned as the engraving matches perfectly, german silver mounts, no makers name or marks , bores have strong rifling with some pitting, original ramrod, both locks work nicely, wood is solid with a few light dings + scratches, The bores have sharp edged 6 land + groove rifling, I ran a light down in the bores what I could see the lands had a nice shine, some slight roughness in places I think they would still shoot well + accurate. This rifle weighs right at 12.5 lbs. The only flaw on this piece is the toe plate at the rear lower corner of stock, the german silver piece has a crack or break running across it, it does not move, seems it will stay in place, I could have it repaired for a small fee if the buyer wishes. Not sure where this rifle was made, I removed the barrels from the stock, the breech is well made, one side is bored with a half circle cut out, which the other breech plug fills, on the underside of barrels + breechplugs + one barrel are marked with three slashes 111, then V1111 further up the barrel, then the patent breech connected to the stock is marked 1111V, backwards from the other a mistake, or an illiterate gunsmith, there are no proof marks that I can find, an avid collector told me he had a Natchez Ms marked rifle very similar to this one .
