Barrel marked at rear with a strong V P , U S , inspectors initials J.P.C. , on the left rear flat C.C. STEEL JH + the date on the tang which the last two numerals are a little weak, but still legible. the wood has a nice color, circle of cartouch visible , NO Burnout behind hammer, nor gouge from hammer being cocked to far , overall very smooth with a few small light dings + scratches , from normal use, overall a nice pleasant looking stock. The brass mounts have a nice color, there is a C inspectors mark on the side plate, the buttplate marked with a U S , patch box functions smoothly, the brass tipped ramrod is smooth + threaded on small end.The Lockplate is a smooth brown , marked with E Whitney over U S + N.Haven over 1853 at the rear, checkering on hammer is nice + lock functions well. The sling swivels are there + move freely the front one has a break, or crack next to the mount, I barely noticed it. Bore is dark, has rifling, may clean up a bit
