Overall this old sheffield bowie is almost 11+1/2", has a heavy 1/4" thick blade with false edge .Blade has lots of original polish all of etching is visible, but a little weak, there is some spotting to the blade in a few places , most would polish out if done carefully. Handle is stag with Nickle silver guard + pommel plates with patriotic symbols, they are in nice patinated condition very little wear, one very small dent or gouge in one of the pommel plates ( see picture ) . The sheath is decent with a few wrinkles, Black with gold N Y + shield + decoative border lines on each edge front + rear, it has a few small cuts + the lower edge by tip is worn through. The mounts on sheath have been punched to hold them in place+ the tip has been crimped where it may have been damaged at one time , overall it is a neat old bowie, on a scale of 1 to 10 it would rate a 7
