Thomas & Griswold Cavalry Officer's Sabre , New Orleans La

Thomas & Griswold Cavalry Officer's Sabre , made in New Orleans La 1861 to 1862. Lovely brass scabbard, one of the most sought after Cav sabre, nice patina to the brass parts, has two piece pommel, two piece knuckle bow or guard, there is a casting flaw in the two tine towards the end where they attach to the main bow. This sabre has the initials " T. G. & Co N. O." on the riccaso, the blade has a nice gray color light pitting , leather on grip is nice , worn through in a few spots, dark in color, scabbard is solid , very nice with a few small light dings. The initails " J T G " are lightly + neatly engraved between the scabbard mounting bands
